The 2017 installment of Huckin in the Valley is in the books and it was the most successful year ever thanks to all those who came from far and wide to attend. 43 pilots in attendance and a steady stream of spectators all weekend long. With out the amazing people in our hobby events like this wouldn’t be possible. We have an amazing eclectic group of pilots who share a passion for flight. It’s an honor to be part of such a vibrant community.
The backbone of any event is certainly is core volunteers and our club at ARCC. They certainly deserve a standing ovation for this past weekend. First and foremost Dave Hammond for his tireless work not only on the field, but he was cooking all day long, Andrew Thompson for his skills with the charcoal, Peter Normandeau for his countless hours in the backhoe to get the road passable and his wife Brenda for her help in the kitchen. Dom Gravel and Mike Torunski for not only sweating it out behind the BBQ but picking up the light towers so we can fly all night, Darren and Sara Wilson for registration, DJ Dan McQuade for setting up the sound gear and playing music all day. Dave Asquini for his work with the turkeys, field prep and countless hours Bob Johnston stepping in and doing some huge food prep the week before. Larry Ingram for his many many hours on site taking photos, then hours sorting and editing all for our enjoyment. These and many more are the people who truly make these events happen.
Finally, the crew from southern Ontario who know how to camp with style. If you didn’t stay the night, be sure to next year. Ed, Steve, Bob, Jim, Scott, Dave and the entire crew certainly know how to live it up on the road. Glamping has a whole new meaning after this event. Thanks guys for the hospitality!
